With blush and muted grey being one of my favourite colour trends of the last few seasons, I am so happy that the “powers that be” have decided to extend the trend into the fall this year.

Normally the holiday season has always been the time that they have brought to us winter white and paired it with muted sorbets to top with our favourite jewels.

This season Tristan, Banana Republic, Reitmans, White House Black Market, Michael Kors (accessories), Forever 21, Joe and Guess have taken it one step further and brought to us softer tones to ease us into what might be a tough winter.

I guess the question then tends to be how to differentiate pastel spring dressing from fall. Look for tones that are moodier. Select greys, pinks, blues and greens that are soft in volume but rich in saturation. Go for denser fabrics like suede, leather and wool.

So while you’re out walking those racks, bypass the browns… just for a moment… and lighten up.

Cheers!
