Living in Lycra

Summertime… I mean… Falltime… and the living is e-a-a-asy.

Here in Ontario we are living through that popular season, Summall. That beautiful cross between Summer and Fall where you wake up and freezing in the morning and sweat to death by 2pm.

Today we are going to talk casual dressing, we’re going to talk colour and most importantly we’re going to talk yoga pants! When you’re thinking about easy-living you can’t ignore that most of us live 40-70% of our lives in yoga pants. Let’s face it, this style is super simple so let’s “work it” and make what could be a depressing look a little glamous and sexy.

Many of us are diehard neutralites (that’s right, I just made up a word)! You can’t drag me away from black and grey. In my last article I talked about the new fall neutrals of soft pink, blue and green which, lucky for me play nicely with my favourite go-to’s. Adding a little sparkle in a tote or simple jewellery, as seen here can elevate this look. Using the same yoga pants we can dress it up by changing the footwear and the necklace or dress it down by adding a slick runner and a layered vest.

Layers can also create impact when using colour as a tool! This season you will be chorded by the enchanting fall displays of colour in your favourite clothing stores and décor haunts. Gorgeous fall tones of magenta and emerald make this outfit pop and it can take you from the grocery store to the gym. Top it off with a simple mesh chain and a leather wrap bracelet to elevate this look.

The hoodie underneath has a full mesh back for a peek-a-boo look. Hence the cute sports bras with light green accent piping.

A neutral metallic tote and matching wristlet goes with everything. Your tote carries more than you need while the wristlet holds your tech device and is easy to grab when running an errand.

For a classic look add khaki to black and cream. It’s right on trend this season and the scarf is super functional to keep your neck covered and muscles loose after an upper body workout. Add a tote for your purse and a beauty bag for touch up essentials. I topped it off with a mixed metal chain and an “arm party”, which includes a leather wrap, a cuff and a beaded strand.

With all three looks I have included a vest, which is this season’s answer to the jacket. This is great piece for the mornings that you can get rid of by afternoon and a perfect addition to your wardrobe overall.

Cheers!
